Why Drum Circle?

Meditation is an inaccessible concept for many people, and maybe even especially most children, but music and rhythm are not.

What does meditation have to do with drum circles? In drum circles we naturally start learning how to:

  • Find and sustain a physical rhythm

  • Align the breath

  • Listen to the community

  • Learn to flow and improvise

The intentional, repetitive physical motion, along with conscious direction of energy toward sustaining rhythm with others that the experience of playing in a drum circle gives are the tools later required for sensing a healthy spiritual community and forming a meaningful meditation practice. These types of resources are sorely missing from many lives and families regular routines. The decline of joy and optimism in our society is confirmation of our need to find a rhythm.

Music is an invisible art form. Playing music, especially with others, is a spiritual practice that elevates and uplifts the human spirit, no matter a person’s theology; and it always has. When we connect with rhythm, we connect with Nature & Spirit. Add with it a heart of devotion, and you find meditation joyfully waiting to surprise you.

We ask for a $10-20 suggested donation at the door per guest to cover supplies, space, and services.
